Players can also sometimes talk to their friends, with which players mainly talk about their insecurities. Players have three dialogue options to choose from while talking, one wrong answer and two correct answers. The goal of these conversations is to fill a meter, as well as level up friends. These dialogues are also part of side quests and even main quests, meaning all players will have friends of the same level at the end of the game.

In the current form, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is more of a visual novel than anything else, as the plot is very linear. Therefore, the overall player experience is a fairly satisfactory one. For the Harry Potter game brand, it could have had a better start, but the game failed to consider the player's choice in a more meaningful way, and the gameplay is also a bit shallow. The bigger problem is that its free-to-play model is designed to frustrate players buying microtransactions. But luckily the story is entertaining, and die-hard Harry Potter fans will find the homage to the books and movies interesting and meaningful.
