In total, 39,904,221 reviews are found in Google play store with 4.2 stars rating. There has been 500,000,000+ installs and the most recent update is November 20, 2021. While in Apple app store PUBG Mobile is ranked No. 4 in Strategy category with 4.3 stars rating by 1.3M users. The app is rated as 12+ on Apple iOS App store and “Teen” in Google Play store due to its violet content.
The Mobile version of PUBG has pretty much all the features of the PC version. It uses PUBG’s original map of the abandoned island “Erangel” to recreates the island’s geography, including abandoned military base and nuclear power plant.
Player can easily find a match in the mobile version regardless the mode you are queueing for, squad, duo, or solo. The game also has built-in voice chat feature; however most players just use their phone’s speaker as a mic. The biggest problem is the game controls which isn’t as good or accurate as the PC version. The virtual joystick is used to control player movement and camera. A floating shoot button moving with your thumb, makes shooting just like tapping. It’s a little clumsy at first, but after a few games you will get used to it.
To compensate for the controls, Developer automates some simple tasks such as picking up, sorting, and equipping and cutting down on some tedious menu management. The game character automatically equips, loads, and switches to autofire when walking over a gun. However the line up is not automated yet. After spotting someone, there is only a second or two to line up, and if you miss, you’ll need to swipe to rotate and line up the shot again. All the weapons, gear, and vehicles from PC version are available on the mobile too. Vehicles in PUBG Mobile are proved to be good combat tools to use as they can be easily ridden around with passenger inside.
Players are awarded with daily login bonuses, objective-based event rewards as well. You can also connect your profile to Facebook to invite your friends to play alongside with you.
Overall PUBG Mobile is fun, but it’s not very tense due to its imprecise controlling issue. More than anything else, the portability and accessibility of PUBG Mobile make up for its limitations. It is a remarkable technical achievement being able to play it anytime and anywhere you go.
